Quick project: Stuffed animal chalk-bags.

21 Apr 2011

I recently started rock-climbing, and it’s probably been one of the greatest decisions I ever made. However, the equipment is somewhat expensive, and I couldn’t justify spending money on a chalk bag. Thus, today I went to a thrift store and bought two stuffed animals, and removed the belly stuffing to make a pair of pouches.

The pink one is a teddy bear minus head. It’s got a D-Ring for a carabiner and a drawstring to keep it shut. The legs and arms are sewn shut to keep chalk out of its nooks & crannies.

The panda is an old TY. The head is held closed with a hook and eye, and flops down to make a nice opening. It’s got a D-Ring and sewn-shut legs as well.

Yeah, I’d be surprised if a bunch of other climbers didn’t offer you money for those guys on the spot. They are cool.
